Did you check out a copy of the code? If not, see How to get GEOS-5 (AGCM) code).

Instructions for DISCOVER.

When you check out the latest stable version of the model from progress it install into a directory called GEOSagcmcd into GEOSagcm/src and source the file called g5_modules:

source g5_modules

If you then type

module list

you should see (depending on the tag the loaded modules may vary):

Currently Loaded Modulefiles:

 1) comp/intel-11.0.083                       2) mpi/impi-

If this all worked, then type:

gmake install

This will build the model.  It will take 30 minutes to 1 hour.  If this works, it should create a directory under GEOSagcm called Linux/bin.  In here you should find the executable: GEOSgcm.x .

GEOS55 can also be built with different compiler flags which can be useful for debugging purposes. To do use use XFLAGS. For example:

gmake install XFLAGS=-O0 -g -traceback -check all -diag-disable warn
