VCDAT on Discover

Three versions of PCMDI"s Climate Data Analysis Tools (CDAT) are currently installed on Discover: 4.1.2, 5.0.0, and 5.2.0 (Sept. 2009). All of them contain the visualization package VCDAT. CDAT was developed by the Program for Climate Model Diagnosis and Intercomparison (PCMDI) at Lawrence Livermore (LLNL).

 

vcdat 4.1.2

It is located in the directory:

 

       /usr/local/other_old/CDAT/4.1.2/bin

 

To use this version, you need to include the following in your .cshrc file:

 

     set path = ($path /usr/local/other_old/CDAT/4.1.2/bin)

 

vcdat 5.0.0

CDAT was built here with only GNU compilers (gfortran, gcc, and g++). vcdat is located in

 

      /usr/local/other/CDAT/5.0.0_gnu/bin

 

To use this version, you need to edit your .cshrc file and add the lines:

 

     set path = ($path /usr/local/other/CDAT/5.0.0_gnu/bin)

     setenv LD_LIBRARY_PATH $:/usr/local/other/CDAT/5.0.0_gnu/Externals/lib

 

vcdat 5.2.0

   To use VCDAT 5.2 on discover make the following settings:

 

   You have to set the following environment variables (in bash) :

    export PATH=/usr/local/other/CDAT/5.2_GNU/bin:$PATH

 

    export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/usr/local/other/CDAT/5.2_GNU/lib:$LD_LIBRARY_PATH

    export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/usr/local/other/CDAT/5.2_GNU/Externals/lib:$LD_LIBRARY_PATH

 

    Place these settings in your .bashrc  or .profile .

 

    Type the following command to execute vcdat 5.2

    vcdat
