Which module loads GDAL?

How do I load GDAL?

I'd like to process a lot of tiffs. Usually, I'd use R. But it seems like NCCS is more friendly to command-line stuff.

    Hi Thomas,

You have a few options on Discover.

    1. You can find a recent version of GDAL under this directory:

    /usr/local/other/SLES11.1/gdal/1.11.1/gcc-4.3.4/bin

    2. You may be able to use the rgdal package within R by loading this module:

    module load other/R-3.1.0

    3. There is also a GDAL package in the SIVO Python Distribution, which you can use after loading these modules:

    module load other/comp/gcc-4.6.3-sp3

    module load lib/mkl-15.0.2.164

    module load other/SIVO-PyD/spd_1.23.0_gcc-4.6.3-sp3_mkl-15.0.2.164

I hope one of these works for you

    Re: Which module loads GDAL?

    FYI:

Discover now has a newer version of R (3.2.2), which contains both rgdal and raster packages. You can load it using:

    module load other/R-3.2.2

Or use the link that always points to the newest version with:

    module load other/R

(I realize you know this already Thomas, but other users may find this useful).
