Overestimation of soil moisture in deep layer (100-200 cm) during open-loop

Hi, I am Donghyuck Yoon, a Ph.D. student in UNIST, South Korea.

 

I tried to run LIS open-loop experiment based on Noah-LSM using GDAS forcing data and evaluated soil moisture contents with GLDAS v 2.1 (0.25 deg, Noah-LSM based).

 

After a spin-up period, it seems that soil moisture contents were saturated well, as GLDAS level.

 

However, soil moisture in 100-200cm was continuously overestimated than GLDAS during the open-loop experiment.

 

It looks moisture contents were "accumulated" to the bottom layer.

 

So, is there any solution for this situation?

 

Do I have to add additional observation forcing (e.g., TRMM, GPCP .. )?

 

Please find the ldt and lis configure settings and figures about simulated soil moisture.

 

It will be a great pleasure for your answer.
